Join us for a fun-loaded bilingual family concert and story time!

During this event, your family will:

 

  • Enjoy the beautiful sound of the cello, performed by a professional musician from New Asian Chamber Music Society.

  • Immerse in a fun and interactive story in Mandarin and English.

  • Gather as a community to sing, move around, and laugh!

 

Featurting Musician: Shu-Wei Tseng, Cellist

Known for her exceptional technique, musicality, and her programme versatility, Taiwanese-British musician Shu-Wei Tseng has performed as both soloist and chamber musician across four continents in major concert halls on the piano and cello.

 

Her playing has been described as radiating a "passionate, energetic, researched, and committed personality with a powerful, fluid and beyond reproach technique" and producing "characters, colours, dynamics …. seldom heard in concerts".

 

Shu-Wei holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she is a Global Ambassador for the University since 2022 and will serve on the Forever Buffs Advisory Board at the university from June 2024, previous degrees and LRAM from London’s Royal Academy of Music on both instruments, a permanent teacher certification from the United Kingdom (PGCE + QTS), NPQSL, and MSc. in Psychology.

 

Alongside regular lectures/masterclasses and workshops she gives internationally, Shu-Wei was frequently featured as the musician representative for the Taipei Consulate and the Taiwan Ministry of Culture in the UK, as well as representing the UK at the D-Day Commemoration Concerts in Normandy, France since 2016. In 2023, Shu-Wei appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at the award-winning New York City Ballet principal Tiler Peck's sold-out European debut, Turn It Out with Tiler Peck & Friends before relocating to New York at the end of 2023. Dr Tseng has since performed at the Consulate General of Poland as part of the XXV International Chopin and Friends Festival's Final Promenade, NYU, and the National Opera Center.

 

New Asian Music Chamber Society (NACMS) 新亞室內樂協會

The New Asia Chamber Music Society (NACMS), the recipient of the 2016 Huang-Yu-Ting Memorial Award and New Music USA’s project grant, was founded in 2010 by an entrepreneurial group of young Asian-American virtuosi. Propelled by a shared passion for classical chamber music performance, the members of NACMS are prize winners of world-renowned international competitions, graduates from America’s most prestigious music schools, including The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute, and appear regularly on major stages across the globe.
